Religious Services Service
Freshwater Church Virgin Islands is a Christian congregation based on St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands. It is an evangelical community that gathers weekly for worship and fellowship, emphasizing faith in Jesus Christ and service within the local island community. The church is known for its informal outdoor services held on the beach, reflecting the island’s natural beauty and open spirit of worship.
Founded in 2013, Freshwater Church grew from a vision shared by Pastor Terry Lansdale and his wife, Marta, who felt called to establish a Bible-believing church on St. John. With support from the North American Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention, the congregation began as a home Bible study before expanding into regular public worship. Its stated mission is to “Love God. Love People.”
Services are held Sunday mornings at Hawksnest Beach, offering a relaxed, inclusive environment open to residents and visitors alike. The church community is notably diverse in ethnicity, nationality, and age. In addition to Sunday worship, Freshwater organizes Bible studies, discipleship programs, and outreach projects that serve the wider Virgin Islands community.
Freshwater Church operates a donation program through checks or online giving, with contributions supporting ministry and local outreach efforts. Members can also engage via its website, mailing list, or social media platforms, where updates and livestreams of worship
