Religious Services Service
Island Church SXM is a contemporary Christian congregation based in Simpson Bay, Sint Maarten. Meeting inside the Caribbean Cinemas complex on Welfare Road, it serves both residents and visitors of “the Friendly Island,” offering an inclusive environment that emphasizes belonging, belief in Christ, and community outreach.
The church’s mission is to help people become fully engaged followers of Jesus Christ by “belonging together, believing in Christ alone, and blessing our world.” Its core theology aligns with traditional evangelical Christianity, affirming the authority of the Bible, the Trinity, salvation through faith in Jesus Christ, and the role of the Holy Spirit in guiding believers.
Sunday services are held at 8:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. in the theater setting of Caribbean Cinemas, with a relaxed “island casual” atmosphere. Worship is described as “Island Contemporary,” combining live music with encouraging, Scripture-centered teaching. Services typically last about an hour and include opportunities for fellowship over coffee and pastries afterward.
Lead Pastor David Acton and his wife Chanelle, both seminary-trained ministers with extensive international experience, guide the church alongside a pastoral team. Island Church offers small groups, Bible studies, prayer meetings, youth and young adult gatherings, and volunteer teams, fostering connection and service across Sint Maarten’s multilingual and multicultural community.
Members and visitors can connect through WhatsApp groups, the YouVersion Bible App, and live-streamed Sunday services on YouTube. The church also organizes events such as baptisms at nearby Kim Sha Beach and themed fellowship nights, reflecting its goal of transforming the island’s international community into devoted followers of Christ.
